How we work together

A coordinated visit from first call to follow-up.

Dentists and support staff share the practical details that help each appointment feel clear, organised and connected.

Before the appointment

The support team helps with appointment type, records and practical questions. Tell the practice about access needs, significant medical information or dental anxiety when booking.

During the assessment

The dentist listens to the concern, examines the relevant teeth and gums and explains what the findings do—and do not—show. Questions about alternatives, limitations and timing are welcome.

After the visit

The team helps arrange treatment, review or maintenance appointments. Follow the individual instructions provided and call if recovery or a restoration changes unexpectedly.

People and responsibilities

Know who can help at each point in the visit.

Clear roles help clinical decisions remain with the dentist while practical questions reach the people who can answer them efficiently.

The dentist’s role

The dentist reviews relevant medical and dental history, performs the clinical examination and discusses findings, diagnosis, suitable options and alternatives. The dentist also explains treatment-specific risks, limitations, likely maintenance and whether specialist care may be more appropriate. A service page or booking category cannot replace this assessment.

The support team’s role

Esther and Carol help coordinate appointments, records, practical information and the transition between reception and the treatment room. They can help identify which general appointment category fits a concern, but they do not diagnose symptoms by telephone. Urgent dental concerns are passed on so the appropriate clinical response can be arranged.

The patient’s role

Tell the team about symptoms, health conditions, medicines, allergies, previous dental experiences and priorities that may affect care. Ask when an explanation is unclear and review the proposed options before deciding. After treatment, follow the individual instructions, maintain daily home care and attend the recommended review or maintenance interval.

Communication and language

All iCare dentists provide care in English and Mandarin. Dr Debbie Chi also speaks Cantonese. Language availability is stated consistently so patients can request help without being given an unsupported language claim.

Family and preventive care

The team supports children, adults and older patients through preventive visits, treatment discussions and ongoing maintenance. Appointment length and approach are adapted to the clinical need rather than assuming every family member requires the same procedure.

Referral when appropriate

Not every complex treatment should be completed in a general practice. When anatomy, disease severity, retreatment or another risk makes specialist input appropriate, the dentist explains the reason for referral and how it fits the overall plan.
