At iCare Family Dental, we are one of the very few dental practices in Australia to offer a warranty on our dental work.
Fillings backed by a 2-year warranty. Crowns backed by a 5-year warranty. Implants backed by a 3-year warranty. Because we believe that quality dental care should come with the confidence to guarantee it.
What is a Dental Care Warranty — and why does it matter?
When you get work done on your car, your plumber fixes a leak, or you buy a new appliance, you expect a warranty. You expect that if something goes wrong through no fault of your own, the provider will make it right.
Dental care should be no different — yet in Australia, the vast majority of dental practices offer no formal guarantee on their work. If a filling falls out six months later or a crown cracks unexpectedly, most patients are left to pay again for the same tooth.
At iCare Family Dental, we think that's wrong.
We introduced our Dental Care Warranty because we believe in the quality of our work, and we believe our patients deserve the confidence that comes with a genuine guarantee. If a restoration we've placed fails within the warranty period — and you've attended your regular check-ups as recommended — we will repair or replace it at no additional cost to you.
This isn't a marketing gimmick. It's a commitment that reflects how we practise dentistry: carefully, thoroughly, and with your long-term oral health in mind.
What's covered under our Dental Care Warranty
Fillings — 2-Year Warranty
All fillings placed at iCare Family Dental are covered by a 2-year warranty.
If a filling we've placed fails, chips, or falls out within 12 months of placement — and the failure is due to the quality of the restoration rather than new decay, trauma, or grinding — we will replace it at no charge.
We use high-quality composite resin materials and take care with every step of placement: isolation, adhesive technique, shaping, and bite adjustment. We don't cut corners, and our warranty reflects that.
Crowns, bridges, inlays/onlays — 5-Year Warranty
All crowns placed at iCare Family Dental are covered by a 5-year warranty.
A crown is a significant investment — at iCare, we want you to have full confidence in that investment. If a crown we've placed fails within five years, we will repair or replace it at no charge, subject to the warranty conditions below.
We work with quality dental laboratories and use proven materials for every crown. Our preparation technique preserves as much natural tooth structure as possible, which is good for both the health of the tooth and the longevity of the crown.
Dental Implants — 3-Year Warranty
Dental implants placed at iCare Family Dental are covered by a 3-year warranty — both the implant body and the implant crown.
A dental implant is one of the most significant investments in your oral health, and we treat it accordingly. If the implant body fails due to surgical or material defects within 3 years, or if the implant crown fails within 3 years, we will replace it at no charge. We follow precise surgical protocols and work with trusted implant systems to give every implant the best chance of long-term success.
Dentures — 6-Month Warranty
Dentures made at iCare Family Dental are covered by a 6-month warranty.
[P] If your denture fractures or develops a defect under normal use within 6 months of fitting, we will repair or remake it at no charge. This covers material and workmanship defects — not damage caused by dropping or mishandling.
Occlusal Splints — 1-Year Warranty
Occlusal splints (night guards) made at iCare Family Dental are covered by a 1-year warranty.
If your splint fractures or develops a structural defect under normal use within 12 months, we will repair or replace it. Please note that surface wear from bruxism (teeth grinding) is expected and is not covered — the warranty applies to structural integrity, not wear and tear.
Why we can offer a warranty when most practices can't
Because we don't compromise on materials
Cheaper materials fail more often. At iCare, we use premium composite resins for fillings and work with reputable dental laboratories for crowns. This costs more — but it results in restorations that last, and we're willing to back that with a guarantee.
Because our technique is thorough, not rushed
A filling placed in five minutes often doesn't last five years. Good restorative dentistry takes time: proper isolation to keep the field dry, careful etching and bonding, incremental build-up of the composite, precise shaping, and thorough bite adjustment. Dr Debbie Chi has over 20 years of experience in restorative dentistry and trained at the University of Otago, one of the most respected dental schools in the Asia-Pacific region.
Because our 6-monthly check-up requirement keeps us accountable
The warranty is conditional on attending 6-monthly check-ups at iCare. This isn't just a condition to protect us — it's what protects you. Regular check-ups allow us to monitor your restorations, catch any early issues, and ensure your overall oral health is maintained. Patients who attend regularly simply have better outcomes, and our warranty aligns our incentives with yours.
Warranty conditions — clear and transparent
We want our warranty to be easy to understand. Here is exactly how it works:
What's covered:
Fillings placed at iCare Family Dental — 2 year from the date of placement
Crowns placed at iCare Family Dental — 5 years from the date of placement
Dental implants (implant body + crown) placed at iCare — 3 years from the date of placement
Dentures made at iCare — 6 months from the date of fitting
Occlusal splints made at iCare — 1 year from the date of fitting
Repair or replacement of the restoration at no charge if it fails due to the quality of the work
Conditions:
You must attend a 6-monthly check-up and clean at iCare Family Dental throughout the warranty period. We understand life gets busy, so we do allow a 2-month grace period beyond your scheduled check-up date. If you come in within that grace period, your warranty continues as normal. If more than 2 months pass without a check-up, the warranty is no longer valid — it does not resume.
The warranty applies to the specific restoration placed, not to the tooth generally
What's not covered:
Failure caused by new decay developing around the restoration (this is a new problem, not a failure of the existing work)
Damage caused by dental trauma or injury (e.g., a fall or sports injury)
Damage caused by grinding or clenching (bruxism) — we strongly recommend discussing a night guard if you grind your teeth
Restorations that have been worked on, repaired, or altered by another dentist after placement at iCare
Pre-existing conditions in the tooth at the time of placement that were discussed and accepted as a risk factor

No. A dental warranty like this is rare in Australia. Most dental practices do not back their work with any guarantee. At iCare, we stand behind what we do — if a restoration fails within the warranty period and the conditions are met, we will fix it. No arguments, no runaround.

If the filling was placed at iCare and you've been attending your 6-monthly check-ups, contact us and we'll assess it. If the failure is due to the quality of the original work, we'll replace it at no charge. If the issue is caused by something new — such as decay developing around the restoration, or damage from grinding — that is a new problem separate from the original work, and a new treatment fee would apply.

Yes. Fillings placed for children at iCare are covered under the same 2-year warranty, subject to the same conditions including 6-monthly check-ups. Children are eligible for subsidised check-ups under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS/Medicare), so maintaining check-ups is straightforward for most families.

We understand life gets busy, so we allow a 2-month grace period beyond your scheduled check-up date. If you come in within that grace period, your warranty continues as normal. The warranty requires 6-monthly check-ups at iCare, so it is specific to patients who continue to attend our practice. If you move away, the warranty would not apply — but we'd be happy to provide a full record of your treatment history to support your care with another dentist.
